A recently released report showed that December 6th was the heaviest online spending day ever! Online sales are up 28% from a year ago which is a trend that I’m sure we will see for the next few years as people become even more comfortable shopping online. What I found interesting was that there were 30 million online searches made for the Nintendo Wii in November; Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2 had only 28 million searches COMBINED. The Wii was searched 3 times more than the Xbox 360 and the older but more affordable PS2 had more searches than the PS3. This proves how strong demand is for the Nintendo Wii and why it maybe difficult for Nintendo to catch up with current demand until sometime next year. It may also be an indication that consumers are looking for more affordable gaming systems for this holiday season.
