I recently came across this interesting article about how the Wii is helping injured veterans with there rehabilitation.  I’ve written on this topic before in senior citizen homes and this is just another good example of people using the Wii for rehab. (Wii-Hab)

EA has announced its answer to the Wii Fit.  The EA sports active will be available for $60 in March 2009.  EA sports active will come with two leg straps to hold the Wii’s Nunchuk controllers and a resistance band for upper body exercises.  You will also be able to see track the number of calories burned and instructions on the exercise your supposed to be doing.

The Wii Fit has become very popular and EA hopes to take some of those sales.  EA of course is very popular with its many sports games and this product will be geared for women.

Nintendo has their crystal ball out and hopefully it works better than last year.   Remember last year Nintendo didn’t figure on selling so many Wii units and then couldn’t manufacture enough Nintendo Wii’s to keep gamers happy.  This year we have a poor economy and Nintendo has stated that it would like to manufacture 50% more units than last year.   They have already sold 4.5 million Wii’s this past year and are on pace to break their 9 million unit goal for they year.  I hope they do actually manufacture 50% more Wii units because it would mean the end to unfair premiums that consumers had to pay on Amazon.com and Ebay.

Nintendo today announced that they promise to ship more Wii’s for the holidays.   Nintendo has been critized the last two holiday season’s for not being able to manufacture enough Wii’s.  Hopefully that won’t be the case this year.  We will just have to wait and see.

Rumor has it that a September Radioshack ad has been leaked with the Xbox Arcade selling for $200.  The ad which can be seen here had a release date of September 7th.  This will mean very strong competition for the Wii and should drive sales of the Xbox much higher.
